Vivid with a View ( 26/27 May 2023 - Opening Weekend)

from A$89.00

VIVID with a View is back!!!

To celebrate this occasion I’ve booked a room at the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney on the upper Horizon levels (30 or above) for the OPENING WEEKEND (Fri 26 May and Sat 27 May 2023 = more boats and ferries than Sun/Mon as in previous years).

Secure your spot to take breathtaking photos from one of the best vantage points overlooking Circular Quay, the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Choose between the Sunset + Vivid lights option to make the most of this unique opportunity by capturing both sunset (4.57pm) and the start of the Vivid lights (from 6pm) or select the late night option (from 8.15pm) for a slightly longer Vivid Lights experience. Both sessions are suitable for time-lapse photography.

There are only 8 spots (2 photographers per window) available per time slot (‘Sunset + Vivid: 4pm-8pm’ or ‘Vivid: 8.15pm-11pm) so book in fast to not miss out and escape the crowds below.

Watch this video or this story from 2017 to get a better idea what to expect in case you’ve missed my stories in the previous years.

Hot Tips:

  • Bring a Lenskirt if you have one, otherwise a lens hood and maybe a black sheet/towel should do the trick as well.

  • Consider wearing something dark to eliminate any reflections in case you can't get close enough to the window with your Lenskirt / lens hood

We'll keep the room as dark as possible (there is enough light coming from outside) but it's better to come prepared for shooting through glass since there is always a red light somewhere or light coming from the corridor when someone enters the room/bathroom
